HoM Eric Sanchez

Reental, the future of investment and the impact of AI on business

In our second episode of HoM: Hombre o Máquina, the podcast of La Lonja de la Innovación, together with the Port of Huelva and Telefónica, Juan Marcelo Gaitán Leiva, FIWARE iHubs director at Telefónica, had a talk about tokenization, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and much more with Eric Sánchez, mentor at La Lonja de la Innovación and CEO of Reental.

We bring some of the key takeaways we got from him, but, if you want to delve deeper, we recommend that you don’t miss the episode

Qué es la tokenización what is tokenization

Tokenization is the foundation on which Reental is built, which is why it was one of the main topics of our talk with Eric Sánchez. Our mentor explains this concept simply by applying it to how his company operates: it involves taking a real estate asset and slicing it into digital shares, or what are known as tokens. This brings a series of advantages:

  1. Accessibility. It democratizes investment, in this case real estate, as it allows anyone to become an investor with very small amounts.
  1. Liquidity. Unlike the traditional real estate market, a token can be easily transferred digitally 24/7, providing immediate liquidity.
  2. Compound interest. Because it is digital, a token is programmable and allows returns to be automatically reinvested.

Human or machine?

When asked who will win the technological battle, humans or machines, the answer is clear to Eric Sánchez: collaboration is the key. “Machines have always been feared; that’s nothing new, but what they do is to create a more productive system and new jobs”. He adds that machines are going to help us in many ways, but it will be the humans who oversee the process and bear ultimate responsibility.

In fact, the CEO of Reental, recognizing the potential AI can provide, affirms that they use it in his company for everything. Artificial intelligence has become a strategic assistant for market analysis, task automation, and much more at Eric Sánchez’s company. However, he warns of the risk of bias inherent in this tool, that’s why it is vital to apply human critical thinking to prevent errors.

Without a doubt, the success of Reental it is an evident proof that it is possible to lead a global technological revolution from a small city such as Huelva.. For him the key to success is that “you have to push toward your goals, don’t let anything stop you”.
